try pendulum on pen hold and with fake motions afterward -- filming can help big time.

see ma long at x0.5 speed to master the trick on how he does the pendulum serve but gives the effect of reverse pendulum.

high toss / pen hold / lots of training / has to be absolutely super short

common scenario:
what to do in training: upon a topspin pendulum serve, and receiving a high push ball, go top spin on the ball, rather than hitting. ( go for placement and a controlled shot from either side ( FH / BH ) -- as opposed to big motion hit or a fast motion hit. )
this is a high toss and a new invention serve
open reverse pendulum -- a full-body movement
1. will hit with the forehand but stay in the left corner
2. very high toss
3. turn with your body, the wrist can also be involved -- decide beforehand and adjust your wrist whether you will do the scopping under serve to generate backspin OR you will lock & position your wrist at 90 degrees to create that
4- try to serve short or you may get a strong spin serve so get ready for an active block!
this service has the potential to generate a heavy backspin (to either direction ) or a heavy topspin to the forehand corner or to the middle --- you can also reverse the wrist action to completely change the spin
if served from the left, easy to get back into position.
if served from the right,
it is also possible to reverse the spin the other way around
perfect serve to train with or without a partner!

MUST MATCH BEFORE TRAINING
these definitely require training as they are tricky to both sides ( to you and to your opponent)
pendulum serve turns to backhand side hit ( hard )
back hand serve turns to forehand side hit ( easy )

have a close bat angle, ( like you will hit the table ) & accelerate to generate that strong, long deep push
if you do not soft touch, soft push it is easier to attack.
Some highlights:
A variation on spin and placement is key.
send empty or loaded from time to time by adjusting the wrist action
serve long and short to either side to scan the opponent's weaknesses
